Aldof Hitler The Character Of Liesel Meminger And Adolf...

The protagonist, Liesel Meminger, is up against many antagonists in the novel such as human nature and its propensity for evil and Adolf Hitler. While Aldof Hitler is not a character in the novel per se, his actions and its consequences, such as the war and the Holocaust, functions as the novels central antagonist. In this novel, there are several different conflicts happening at once. The most overarching conflict in the novel is World War 2 due to Hitler. Liesel can be connected to Hitler through the power and love of words and human nature and its propensity for evil through the many losses of lives of people who were close to her. The resolution of the conflict is found after the bombing of Himmel Street when Leslie finds out everyone†¦show more content†¦The setting of the fictional novel The Book Thief is a sad bleak neighborhood on Himmel Street which is located in the fictional town of Molching, Germany. The setting takes place in the time of World War 2 around Janua ry of 1939 to some time in 1942. This setting makes the book more interesting due to the added conflicts of the war that appear to Leisel on top of the ones she already has. There are many themes to this novel such as criminality, courage, and love. But the most important theme is identity. In this novel, during World War 2, identity plays a huge role if one was Jewish. In order to stay alive, a Jew has to stay hidden. A wrong move can result in the death of one’s self or death of loved ones. one should not be hated for who they are, or in this case what religion one is. God made everybody different and unique in their own way. We dont have to be all alike, we can stand out. This is where courage takes place. One must have the courage to be who they are no matter if theyre hated or not. Liesel Meminger, the protagonist from The Book Thief, has many similarities and differences to Andrew Ender Wiggin, the protagonist from Ender’s Game. They both also handle their conflicts in similar ways as well. The protagonists both handled different yet similar conflicts both included wars during the novels.
